Why is Coronavirus spreading so quickly in developed countries?

The main reasons for cases and deaths surge in developed countries are;

1. Approx. 25% of the population is above 65 in developed; while only about 5% in developing countries.

Comparison of developed (USA) and developing (India) countries population by age

2. Elder population is more susceptible, getting symptomatic and severe enough to require a lab test increasing the total count, while the younger population does not end up visiting the hospital and gets self-quarantined, plus 1 in every 4 can be asymptomatic.

3. Low immunity due to fewer lifetime disease exposures. The more you get sick or ill throughout life, the better your body can fight against various diseases. Since I have been abroad (developed countries) for the last 5 years, thankfully I haven’t got sick. While back in my developing country Pakistan I used to get sick a minimum of 2–3 times a year i.e, flu or some kind of food poisoning, etc.

4. Sadly, “The economy has more worth than an individual life here”. I did not witness any true lockdown in New York, though the only solution effective till now is by social distancing and staying home. Wuhan’s documentary in mid-February taught me the real meaning of a lockdown (11 million population, same as New York City)
